Church Information

At Jerusalem Baptist Church we seek to keep the Bible in its original setting. Though we live in modern times, the Word of God is unchanging. While it is easy to make applications out of the scriptures, we believe that to understand the Bible it must be kept in context. One should consider who wrote it, who it was written to, and who and what it was written about.

From the days of Moses until Jesus (approximately 1500 years), the good news of salvation was primarily given to the Jewish nation. While there was a Temple standing in Jerusalem, the gentiles were not out of God’s heart and mind as there was a court made for the gentiles within the Temple.

Jesus’ followers, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, began to branch out and take the gospel to the gentile lands. For the first time in 1500 years, gentiles now began to embrace Judaism in its New Covenant  form (Jeremiah 31:31).

Ever since, gentiles in great numbers have been coming to faith in this Supernatural, Divine Teacher Who showed that all nations may now approach the very God of heaven. However, they may not come without a blood sacrifice. Those believing in Messiah Jesus, the one Who laid His life down for all, may now stand before God, not having their own righteousness, but the righteousness of God, which is by faith in the substitute blood sacrifice of God’s perfect and final Lamb – "the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world."  (John 1:29)

We at Jerusalem Baptist Church enjoy studying about the ancient Jewish feasts and observing them in light of their New Covenant fulfilment. Jesus fulfilled the first four feasts: dying on the eve of Passover, being buried during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and rising from the grave on the Feast of First Fruits. Fifty days later He sent the Spirit down to His faithful followers on the Day of Shavuot, known by gentiles as the Day of Pentecost(Acts chapter 2). The last three Feasts remain to be fulfilled, but shall be upon the Messiah’s grand and glorious return to set up the Davidic Kingdom which will usher in a thousand years of peace.

All are welcome at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Those that honour God and revere His Chosen People are especially welcome to come and join us as we worship and study the Bible together each week.
